We are thrilled to announce that Claudia Divito, our second year student of Level 3 Photography, has secured a winning entry into the RA Young Artists' Summer Show, shortlisted from over 17000 entries!

Today is National Nurses Day. Many of our Acorns are now working on the front line as part of their nursing training. They really are super heroes and we are very proud of every one of them.

It has been confirmed that this year’s A Level and GCSE results will be published on the initially planned dates of 13 & 20 August respectively.

The Government have now issued their official guidelines regarding the grading of national examined subjects (GCSE, AS and A levels & Extended Project Qualifications) for 2020.

Southport College and King George V welcomed Ofsted inspectors into college from February 11-14 2020 and we are very proud to announce the final report has judged their overall effectiveness to be good. Both colleges had already been graded ‘Good’ and now the latest and third visit confirms the merged college is also ‘Good’.

Tutors Phil Jackson, Kevin Toole and Derek Hughes were very lucky in securing enough tickets to take 31 of our Engineering students on board the HMS Prince of Wales.

For World Book Day, Bob Stone from Write Blend Books generously donated boxes full of books for our Big Book Giveaway Event (how many times can you say book in a sentence?!).

During National Apprenticeship Week we were delighted to welcome in our former student Gareth Lang, who is now a Director of GMAC Plumbing and Gas Services along with his business partner Andy McMullen. Gareth spoke to our plumbing apprentices about his journey from being an apprentice himself, studying for a gas qualification at Southport College in 2005, to starting his own self-employed business and now runs a company employing a team of 45 engineers.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, on Tuesday February 4th Southport College held their annual Apprenticeship fair, with a record breaking 500 year 10 and 11 pupils attending from schools right across Sefton and West Lancashire.

After many preparations, implementation of new practice and staff training, we have been proudly awarded the Full Rainbow Flag Award. This national quality assurance framework is for all colleges and schools, to focus on the inclusion and visibility of LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities), across the entire organisation, including students and staff.
