Southport College Creative Media and Technology students entered a variety of films into a competition run by Merseyside Road Safety Partnership. Films from colleges across Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens and Liverpool were shortlisted, with an impressive 5 of the 11 being from Southport College students, 2 of which won the top prizes.

On the 15th January, at the City of Liverpool College, a special screening is taking place showcasing students’ work. They have produced hard-hitting videos aiming to raise awareness surrounding drug-driving by creating content targeted at their own age group, to be shared on social media.

Our 3rd year BA Criminology student, Joanne Larkin, visited the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool recently to listen to Mim Skinner’s talk about her new book Jailbirds: Lessons from a Women’s Prison. "She talked about positive as well as sad stories and about the reality of prison life for women."

Our wonderful Access to HE students raised over £250 in just one day recently when they joined in the Charity's Elf Day celebration. With a visit from a very special elf and fun activities throughout the day, they brought a smile to everyone's faces whilst raising money for this very worthy cause.

It was Panto time in our college theatre last week, (oh yes it was!) when our Level 3 Performing Arts students put on "Sleeping Beauty and the Curse of the Liquidator" and played to packed houses each night.

We were delighted to welcome Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, into College recently, to officially open our brand new Gas and Plumbing workshops.

The Coming Of Age: The Human Rights Act At 21 Our 3rd year BA (Hons) Criminology & Social Sciences (topup) class attended a lecture by Professor Conor Gearty, London School of Economics at Liverpool University.

Celebrating festivals from a wide range of faiths is a key element of the UK Early Years Curriculum, and with this is mind our Early Years and Childcare students have been particapting in a Festival of Light.
