A tradition running for decades has been the ‘End of Year Art Shows’ at both the Southport College and KGV Sixth Form College campuses. Normally they hold glittering on-site shows, with live music and hospitality, inviting VIPs, friends and families from across the region to see their students’ spectacular creations. It’s the crescendo of the academic year for all students of the Art and Design disciplines, including Fine Art, Graphic Design, Creative Media Production, Fashion and Textiles, Photography and Games Design.
Sadly restrictions have meant the shows can’t go ahead in their traditional format this year, but the Colleges are delighted for the first time, to launch an impressive on line showcase instead.
The work on display is phenomenal and includes everything from an installation by Southport College student Nathaniel Ball, who is now off to study Illustration at Manchester Metropolitan University to Fashion Designs entitled “The Activist”, from KGV student Kyra Kang, who is going on to the London College of Fashion to study Womens Wear Fashion Design.
The tutors are very proud of each and every one of their students and are thrilled to be able to share their work virtually in this way.
Principal of the Colleges, Michelle Brabner said “The excellent quality of the work in this show is a fine testament to the talents of our students and the high quality of teaching on our courses. Our students go on to achieve great things and it’s very important to recognise the value of this industry and how it injects so many skills into businesses across our region. Please do take the opportunity to explore the shows and enjoy the brilliant pieces on show this year.”
The Virtual Art and Design Shows are open to all and will be available throughout the summer via the following links:
