Spark Radio will be broadcast around Southport and the surrounding area, reaching an audience of up to 330,000 listeners. This is a fantastic milestone as our learner-run station brings its shows, podcasts and music to a wider community.
This achievement is made possible with the guidance of Andy Hilbert, our Enrichment Coordinator and lead of Southport Student Sound. As a real-life DJ on Dune Radio, Andy brings invaluable industry expertise to Spark Radio, helping our students create top-quality content and connect with their listeners.
This will not only provide a valuable platform for our talented students to showcase their skills but also enriches the local radio landscape with fresh, creative content from the next generation of broadcasters. Spark Radio will continue to offer a wide range of shows, from music and entertainment to insightful discussions and student-led interviews, reflecting the vibrant culture and diversity of our college.
As part of our enrichment programme, a series of voluntary roles have become available for students, from marketing, to production, to news curation. These roles offer students valuable hands-on experience in their chosen fields, helping them build strong CVs and develop industry-relevant skills that will set them apart in future career paths.
We can’t wait for you to tune in and experience the energy, talent, and creativity of our student body. Join us on Spark Radio as we celebrate the next generation of broadcasters who are ready to make their mark!
