Dylan is currently completing his Apprenticeship, working for AmpEV under the wing of his trainer David Palmer and studies one day per week at college with our electrical lecturers.
AmpEV specialise in the design, supply, installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charge points throughout the UK. They have been employing Southport College Apprentices for several years in this rapidly expanding industry. This installation was completed in just two days, ready for the first cars to be plugged in, what better experience can a student get!
David told us that “Dylan is a promising Apprentice, he always works hard, shows lots of enthusiasm and is good at problem solving. It's great for him to be getting into this area because it’s just getting bigger and will have a great career out of it if he carries on as he is.”
Dylan told us “I have been a student here for a couple of years now. I’ve done my Level 2 and 3 Electrical Installation courses and now on the Electrotechnical Apprenticeship with AmpEV. I really enjoy it, David teaches me lots and I get loads of experience because even though most of the work is installing charging points, no two jobs are ever the same and we’re always working somewhere different and meeting new people. I’d really recommend an Apprenticeship, it’s a good way to start your career.”
Michelle Brabner, Principal at Southport College said “We are working hard to substantially reduce the College’s carbon footprint, right across the board. So along with a new and improved cycle to work scheme, introducing these electric charging points in our staff car park will pave the way towards reducing our CO2 from car emissions. We are delighted to have partnered with AmpEV on this project and thank Dylan and David for the high quality and efficient job they have done.”
