Southport College Bricklaying Student recognised at the LCR Adult Skills and Community Awards

L2 Bricklaying student Aiden Lees received the Construction Adult Learner of the Year Award at Liverpool City Region’s Adult Skills and Community Awards 2024 on Tuesday 22nd October, hosted at Hugh Baird College.

The judging panel recognised Aiden’s commitment, consistent hard work, and his “drive to pursue excellence in academics” in the time he has been at Southport College. He has also been commended for his timekeeping and prioritization skills for balancing his studies alongside full time employment.

Aiden has been studying at Southport College for two academic years, originally studying for his Bricklaying L1 qualification before progressing onto his L2.

The award was presented by Deputy Chair Executive of Southport Education Group, Mark Burrows, who praised Aiden for his outstanding achievements and highlighted the importance of education for adults across the Liverpool city region.

Construction tutor Michael Harper states “Aiden has shown tremendous growth and commitment throughout his time at Southport College. His enthusiasm for the trade, coupled with his willingness to go above and beyond in his studies, makes him a role model for other students.”

We would like to wish Aidan a massive congratulations. This award is well deserved and is a testament to his dedication and professionalism. We can’t wait to see what he will achieve in the near future!
