Plan how you'd support children returning after Covid-19.

Plan how you'd support children returning after Covid-19.

Imagine you're in the pre-school room of a local day nursery. The children are returing after being at home for 6 months because of lockdown. The Early Years teacher needs you to help her ensure the transition is managed effectively.

Try and put a plan together.

  • Consider that children may not be able to verbalise or understand their feelings effectively.
  • Think about how you could work with parents/carers to manage this transition.
  • Can you describe how the children may be feeling?
  • How will you ensure the children feel safe and secure?
  • Look at a theoretical perspective in relation to emotional well-being - one theorist you could consider is John Bowlby
  • What might be a good activity for the first day back?

Something to get excited about...!

We have our own working nursery setting here at Southport College and children from local nurseries are regularly invited in so you can put your new skills into practice. The children always love coming into college to meet you all and our students love the chance to plan exciting activities specially for them.
