I looked at numerous colleges however none of them offered what I wanted from a Performing Arts course. The course at Southport College is a fantastic course which will get you ready to go out and become successful in the industry. Getting on stage is amazing but doing all the preparation to plays (writing, staging, directing etc.) is great too and the productions never feel like low budget college productions. Having the opportunity to get involved in such a broad variety of shows from musicals to straight plays allows you to develop so many different skills. The course also teaches you a lot of technical knowledge and has really broadened my understanding and knowledge of performing. I am staying at Southport College next year to study the HND Performing Arts and in the future would like to go on to be a voice actor on video games, animated films and TV shows.

The facilities at Southport College are excellent including the drama and ballet studios and the multipurpose theatre. The staff are particularly friendly and knowledgeable with lots of vocational industry experience. The College is also easily accessible by train which is great for me. I’ve enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and supportive environment and I’ve also loved having the opportunity to perform in many diverse shows including musicals, plays and touring productions. Next year I’ll be studying at The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London.
