This BTEC Level 3 course offers you a modern, work-related health qualification which will open the door to higher education, apprenticeship or a direct career in the health and social care sector. You will study a range of health units including psychology, sociology, human biology, safeguarding, health and safety and research skills. You will also develop practical skills in the state-of-the-art clinical skills training hub.

Five GCSEs at grade 4 including maths or English at grade 4 and English or maths at grade 3. Alternatively - pass grade in a relevant Level 2 qualification. Plus satisfactory DBS

On successful completion of the course, you may progress into further study at university level courses such as: nursing degree (paediatric adult, learning disabilities and mental health branches), occupational therapy, midwifery, social work or other health related courses. Also, you may progress onto apprenticeships within healthcare or progress into employment in roles within the health and social care sector.

Assessment is mostly assignment based. This includes producing posters, completing workbooks, writing essays and reports, practical assessments and examinations. You will have 4 exams across the 2 years. In year 1 there are 2 exams: Human Lifespan Development and Working in Health and Social Care and in year 2, Anatomy and physiology and Enquiries into Current Research.

Specialist units will be tailored around career intentions.

Work placement is an essential part of this course. You will take part in a significant work placement in a relevant health and social care setting and complete a first aid course. The course has been designed to give you a wider understanding of Health and Social care issues.

We offer specialist vocational qualifications and you would study only one of these during your time with us. You apply for one course per application but if you are undecided you can submit multiple applications for different courses. However, you would need to choose one subject before you enrol. .
